The Steam Tram Museum Hoorn - Medemblik presents the history of the steam tram in the Netherlands and the role played by rural rail transport in the development of the Netherlands between 1879 and 1966. The Steam Tram Museum purchases, restores and conserves a collection that in its entirety represents this heritage. This collection, with authentic Dutch steam rolling stock, the local Hoorn - Medemblik railway line with the buildings, signals, objects and archive material, is the basis for a historically accurate exhibition that appeals to tourists.
The exhibition takes as its focus the year 1926. Each year from Good Friday up to the end of the autumn holidays, a tourist steam tram runs between Hoorn and Medemblik. In Hoorn, you can visit the historical signal house and museum workshop, either to begin or to round off your trip.
In combination with the steam tram trip, you can visit the various other museums and attractions in the region. More information on this combined option can be found in the new program 2004. Please order your folder at the following number: 0229 214862.
